Counsellor / Mentor
A volunteer and practitioner in counselling since 2007, Alvin has experienced working with various Homes and Schools. Other than parenting workshops, psycho-education and psychometric tests to evaluate at-risk students for psychological issues, Alvin conducted individual counselling and life skills workshops with recovering mental health clients. He had served in his home church as a pastoral counsellor and ‘Search for Life’ group facilitator.
Personally involved in the MSF Fostering Programme from 2015 to 2019, Alvin received first-hand knowledge on children’s developmental growth, psychological issues such as child abuse & trauma, therapeutic intervention and parenting skills, notably the Triple P (Positive Parenting Programme). Alvin’s clientele ranges from children and youth to recovering mental health adults and helping couples through the Prepare-Enrich marriage course.
His past practice as a registered Architect has brought with his creativity and professionalism in ‘designing’ socio-psychological structures for people to build resilient lives and meaningful relationships. A satisfying relationship gives meaning to life, helping people enrich their self-confidence and self-esteem. Alvin believes in people and relationships where children and family homeostasis are life foundations for future resilient generations.
