A Sense of Belonging

After relocating from China to Singapore to look after her grandchildren, Huan Ai struggled to adjust to the new environment as she had to adapt to a vastly different culture and lacked social support. Majoring in Clinical Medicine in China, she understood the importance of exercise.

When exercising around her neighbourhood, she chanced upon REACH Senior Centre @ Bukit Gombak Vista conducting one of their exercise programmes and signed up to become a member. Since then, she has been actively participating in the activities offered by our senior centre. This included Community Cafe, Chair Zumba, and HAPPY Programme. Forging a stronger sense of belonging in the community, Huan Ai also stepped forward to volunteer, where she shared about her knowledge on medicine and healthy living to the seniors during health talks. Huan Ai now lives a happier and fulfilling life as she has forged many strong friendships with other seniors who share her interests.
